Braddock Point Lighthouse - On Lake Ontario near Rochester, New York, and open seasonally as a bed and breakfast.

First Light Bed and Breakfast -  On the waterfront in the quaint village of East Blue Hill, Maine. There is a privately built tower resembling a lighthouse at this inn.

Goose Rocks Light -A "sparkplug" style lighthouse near North Haven, in midcoast Maine. One of the few offshore lighthouses anwyhere offering overnight stays.

The Lighthouse Inn - In West Dennis on Cape Cod, MA, picturesquely situated along the shore of Nantucket Sound.

Little River Light - In the unspoiled fishing village of Cutler, Maine. The station has been restored by the Friends of Little River Lighthouse, a chapter of the  American Lighthouse Foundation.

Pemaquid Point Light -  A spectacular location in Bristol, Maine. A one-bedroom second floor apartment is available for weekly vacation rentals.

Plymouth (Gurnet) Light -  A very historic light station near Cape Cod. The Keeper's Cottage can be rented by the week or by the month.

Popham Beach Bed and Breakfast -  Not a lighthouse, but a converted lifesaving station. With views of the mouth of the Kennebec River, and Seguin and Pond Island lighthouses.

Race Point Lighthouse - At Provincetown at the tip of Cape Cod, recently restored by the Cape Cod Chapter of the American Lighthouse Foundation.

Rose Island Lighthouse - In Newport Harbor, Rhode Island. A wonderful place!

Saugerties Lighthouse - In New York, on the Hudson River at Esopus Creek.

Sebasco Harbor Resort - Part of this resort on the Casco Bay is modeled to look like a lighthouse, with rooms inside.

Selkirk Lighthouse - Open to the public for daily, weekly and monthly rentals for most of the year. In New York on Lake Ontario, at the mouth of the Salmon River.

Thirty Mile Point Lighthouse - 30 miles east of the Niagara River on the shore of Lake Ontario in Golden Hill State Park. Whitehead Light - Offering programs for adults at an historic lighthouse in the heart of the Maine coast. In addition, the entire facility is available to rent for up to seven days and six nights.

Wings Neck Lighthouse -  This pretty lighthouse in Pocasset on Cape Cod is available for rent.

WEST COAST

Blackthorne Inn -  Near the San Francisco Bay area towns of Point Reyes Station and Inverness, providing romantic lodging in a luxurious tree house located near the Point Reyes National Seashore and Lighthouse, one hour from San Francisco and the California Wine Country.

Browns Point Light - The Points Northeast Historical Society runs a Keeper's Cottage Program for those who would like to serve as "keeper." Located in a park in Tacoma, Washington.

East Brother Light Station - A bed and breakfast inn perched atop an island in the straits that separate San Francisco and San Pablo Bays.

Heceta Head Lighthouse, Oregon - A working lighthouse, interpretive center and bed & breakfast. That seven-course gourmet breakfast sounds awfully good!

New Dungeness Lighthouse - Sequim, Washington. Lodging is available at the lighthouse for members only, who serve as "keepers" for one week and maintain the property.

North Head Lighthouse - Located in Fort Canby State Park, Ilwaco, Washington. Two of the keeper's residences are available as vacation rentals.

Odiak Pharos / Cordova Rose Lodge -  On the shore of Orca Inlet in Cordova, Alaska -- a barge with its very own lighthouse and a bed and breakfast inn.

Pigeon Point Lighthouse - Perched on the California coast, 50 miles south of San Francisco and next to Highway 1. Operated as a hostel.

Point Arena Lighthouse and Museum - Point Arena, CA, the first steel-reinforced concrete lighthouse in the United States.

Point Cabrillo Lighthouse -  Just north of the charming village of Mendocino, CA. The former keeper's house and two adjoining cottages are available as vacation rental units.

Point Montara Lighthouse - Just 25 miles south of San Francisco, preserved and restored by Hosteling International / American Youth Hostels and California Department of Parks and Recreation, in cooperation with the U.S. Coast Guard.

Point No Point Lighthouse - This beautiful property on Puget Sound, near Hansville, Washington, includes the lightkeepers' duplex that now houses the US Lighthouse Society executive offices in one half, with the other half available as a vacation rental.

Point Robinson Lighthouse -  The Keepers of Point Robinson Lighthouse have opened one of the keepers' houses for weekly rental. In the Vashon-Maury Island Park & Recreation District, Puget Sound, Washington.

Rockwell Lighthouse -  A privately-built lighthouse on the north side of Sitka Harbor, Alaska. Operated as a bed and breakfast.

Grand Traverse Lighthouse - At the tip of the Leelanau Peninsula near Northport, Michigan. Volunteer "keepers" spend two weeks at the lighthouse, greeting visitors and providing tours of the museum.

Jacobsville Lighthouse Inn - The Portage River Light Station in Michigan on Keweenaw Bay, Lake Superior, is now a bed and breakfast inn.

El Faro Hotel and Beach Club, Playa del Carmen - On the Mexican Caribbean coastline known as the "Mayan Riviera," 45 miles south of Cancun.

ARGENTINA

Punta Delgada Lighthouse  (El Faro de Punta Delgada) - At the southeastern end of the Peninsula of Valdés, Patagonia. The buildings at the lighthouse have been converted into a hotel and restaurant.

Bathurst Point Lighthouse -  Accommodations are available in the former keeper's cottages on Rottnest Island, Western Australia.

Montague Island Lighthouse - Montague Island is one of the most important breeding areas along the New South Wales coast for seabirds.

Smoky Cape Lighthouse - On the mid-north coast of New South Wales. Two historic cottages on the site have been refurbished and are available for overnight stays.

Tamar River Leading Light South - Two former keeper's cottages at this Tasmanian lighthouse are available for rental.

Troubridge Island Lighthouse -  Near Edithburg in South Australia, surrounded by conservation land that is home to penguins and other birds.

Vlaming Head Lighthouse - The keeper's houses at this Western Australia lighthouse are now part of  the Ningaloo Lighthouse Caravan Park.

Wilsons Promontory Lighthouse -  On a small peninsula jutting into the wild seas of Bass Strait. Three cottages are available for overnight rental.

NEW ZEALAND

The Lighthouse and The Keep - A unique bed and breakfast experience in Wellington. The Lighthouse is in Island Bay just 10 minutes from the airport. Old Lower Lighthouse, Portland Bill - The Portland Bird Observatory and Field Centre offers accommodation with shared facilities for 20 people in the lighthouse and adjacent annex, and six people in the self-contained lighthouse keepers cottage.

Pendeen Lighthouse -  Devon and Cornwall. The site includes four cottages, three of which are available to rent. The remaining cottage is occupied by an attendant who conducts tours of the lighthouse.

Start Point Lighthouse -  Near Kingsbridge, Devon. "Beacon Cottage" is perched on the cliff edge providing breathtaking views across Start Bay.

St. Anthony's Lighthouse - On the beautiful Roseland Peninsula, Cornwall.

St. Catherine's Lighthouse -  Near Ventnor, the southernmost point of the Isle of Wight, with three adjoining cottages.

Corran Lighthouse - In the heart of the highlands on the shores of Loch Linnhe.

Corsewall Lighthouse - The keeper's quarters at this functioning lighthouse has been transformed into a luxury hotel and restaurant.

Eilean Bàn Lighthouse - The former keeper's quarters have overnight accommodations as well as a museum focused on author Gavin Maxwell. Located near the Skye Bridge between Isle of Skye and the mainland, on the west coast of Scotland.

SWEDEN

Damman Lighthouse -  In Kalmar Sound, this restored lighthouse is now a hotel and restaurant.

Hogbonden Lighthouse -  In southern Bothnia; the former keeper's house is available from May 1 through mid-October.

Landsort Lighthouse - Sweden's oldest lighthouse station, at the southern tip of the island of Öja. You can rent rooms at the former pilot station (bed & breakfast and restaurant) or at the youth hostel located in renovated former military barracks.

Luringen Guesthouse - The former Trädgårdsholmen Lighthouse is available for overnight stays, with 14-23 beds. On the island of Lurö, Lake Vänern.

Pater Noster Lighthouse - On the island of Hamneskär, off the larger Marstrand Island, near Gothenburg. Accommodations are in the former keeper's quarters.

Neuwerk Lighthouse - Near Hamburg.

Roter Sand - Probably Germany's most famous lighthouse, offshore from Bremerhaven. The website is in German only.

CROATIA

Palagruza Lighthouse - On the island bearing the same name, located in the middle of the Adriatic Sea, between the Italian and Croatian coast.

Plocica Lighthouse -  A newly renovated lighthouse on the island of the same name on the Adriatic coast.

Porer Lighthouse -  Built in 1833 off the Istrian peninsula on the Adriatic coast.

Prisnjak Lighthouse -  Off the Island of Murter on the Adriatic coast.

Rt Zub Lighthouse - On the Lanterna peninsula, between two beautiful bays.

Savudrija Lighthouse - The oldest and the northernmost of Croatia's lighthouses.

Struga Lighthouse -  Built in 1839 at the Cape of Struga on the Adriatic coast.

Susac Lighthouse -  Built in 1878 on the southwestern side of the uninhabited island of the same name, on the Adriatic coast.

Sv. Ivan na pucini Lighthouse - On the southermost islet of an archipelago near town of Rovinj on the Adriatic coast.

Sv. Petar Lighthouse -  On the peninsula of Sv. Petar at the Makarska port entrance, in the vicinity of the one of the most beautiful beaches on the Adriatic.

Veli Rat Lighthouse -  An 1849 lighthouse on the island of Dugi Otok, west of the town of Zadar on the Adriatic coast.

MADAGASCAR

Nosy Vorona Lighthouse - On the northwest coast of Madagascar. The former keeper's cottage is available for rent.

MAURITIUS

Le Canonnier Hotel - Mauritius is east of Madagascar, off Southern Africa. On the grounds of this hotel is the old Pointe aux Canonniers Lighthouse, now used as a daycare center for children (3-12 years old) of guests.

Ocean Villas -  Two hotels are available, a short distance from the old Pointe aux Canonniers Lighthouse: Ocean Villas, with a large range of accommodation, and an upmarket small luxury hotel called Ocean Beauty.

NAMIBIA

Shark Island Lighthouse - This inactive 1903 lighthouse is part of the Shark Island Resort at Lüderitz, on the Shark Peninsula. Luxury accommodations are available.

SOUTH AFRICA

Cape Columbine Lighthouse - On a prominent headland near the picturesque fishing village of Paternoster. There are three cottages available for overnight stays.

Cape St Blaize Lighthouse -  On the western Cape coast, at the entrance to Mossel Bay. One self-catering cottage accommodating six persons is available.

Danger Point Lighthouse -  Southwest of Gansbaai, a small fishing village on the Atlantic side of Cape Agulhas. One self-catering cottage accommodating four persons is available.

Great Fish Point Lighthouse -  Near the mouth of the Great Fish River, about 15 miles from the coastal resort of Port Alfred. Two self-catering cottages accommodating six persons each are available.

North Sand Bluff Lighthouse -  In the village of Port Edward on the shores of the Natal South Coast, just north of the Umtamvuna River. There are two self-catering cottages at the light station, accommodating four persons each.
